My Canon PIXMA ip3000 has died. It is not under warranty and the manual and emails from Canon Customer Service have both confirmed that there is nothing I can do - it must be repaired by a Canon service technician. I've already bought an ip3680 to replace it, but what should I do with the old one.

Keep in mind, I live in Taiwan.

1. Junk it/recycle it.
1a. If I junk it/recycle it, what can I do with the brand new, unopened ink cartridges?
2. Bring it to a Canon store and pay to have them fix it.
3. Bring it to a non-Canon store and have them fix it (cheaper and riskier).
4. Sell it on eBay (would anybody buy a broken printer?

Any ideas?

Junk it / recycle it. Ink jet printers aren't work anything. The IP3000 is ok but certainly not high end or anything special. If this was a decent, mid level laser, perhaps I would consider repairing it but not a cheap ink jet.

As for the ink tanks, feel free to ebay those if they are sealed but you'll likely only get a couple bucks for them anyhow.
