i'm looking at getting one of these, since shuttle failed with the sn21g5, but i've seen a lot of people saying they're getting random restarts, which has been located to being some sort of incompatibility between the mobo and psu.

what good psu's can you guys confirm works with the rs482? does anyone have the sytrin nextherm psu? or the xclio 450bl? i know i should stay away from the enermax liberty.

I sent an e-mail to DFI tech support about this board, here's what they said:

" engineering in Taiwan has not hinted at any board revisions. I think the various power supply makers in an effort to get ready for the power requirements of these newer high draw video cards and the current draw of the newer processors have been in stages of transition for months now.

They have been forced to 2 rail 12V supplies and in the last 3 months or so to the 4 rail 12Volt power supplies in order to "try" and output enough 12volt power to run the newer systems. There have been failings and glitches along the way for sure. I personally have tried 4 of the power supplies that I will list as have many of my own friends and we have had success at each step of the way. That may be a better list of power supplies since the engineers cannot possibly keep up with testing power supplies as they are just flooding out of the manufacturers by the hundreds when every generic to mainstream manufacturer is considered across mulitiple power ratings.

I have had personal success with the top 4 but the 650 watt Sparkle which is made by FSP-Group may work also. It is right between the 600 and 700 and maybe that way 'on purpose' by FSP-Group.

Even beyond all of power supply recommends and issues is the fact that many are going with modular cabling and then only putting in just barely enough cables to run what is there and they run into load-balancing issues. The +5volt rail has to be loaded to an extent in order for the 12Volt rails to get full power and not loading almost all the leads out of the power supply does not allow full 12Volt power. The OCZ power supplies above have a designated PCI-e cable for the #1 card and the #2 card and if using only 1 video card then the #1 lead PCI-e lead should be used. One of the Ocz techs and I proved this when he got his first Gamer Extreme supply and said his video card clocked lower with the GamerExtrme>> BUT when I told him to make sure he was on PCI-e #1 and he made the PCI-e lead connections correctly then his video card clocked right on back up. There are many more configuration issues in play now than ever since I began to fool with computers just a short 10 years ago and I expect with the rush to newer and even newer tech that more problems will arise.

So that is about as much real and not guessed at information I can supply you. I never like to see users with a problem or perceived problem or just a headache from a system. If you can find something you know will run and work better as relates to boards by all means you need to try it. I think life is too short for computers to create headaches instead of make work easier which is what they were supposed to do. Different combos or parts and pieces always seem to give different results lately anyway. Good luck. "

i have used all 3 of these psus with this board with no problems or random reboots - coolermaster 550 realpower, sunbeam nuuo 550, rosewill 450watt atx 2.01. i also had an older enermax 465 watt psu on it for around a week and was worked fine also.

Forgot to mention that I'm using an XClio 450BL and have been for a couple of months with no problems. It's currently powering the rig in my sig

it seems like i'm coming full circle here in my psu choice; i initially started out like half a year ago, when i started looking at stuff for building a comp, with the xclio 450 in mind, then i went to the liberty and around a bit, but it looks like im back here :p

thanks for the info every1, if theres any other word, feel free to post it too. im not buying until the amd price drop on the x2's, so i'll still be keeping my eyes/ears open.
