Hmm... I had one of those Saitek keyboards years ago... I didn't remember it being particullary quiet, have you tried some of the "silent" mechanical switches.. Even something like Silent reds? I built a GMK67 w/ Outemu Silent Lime V2 switches and it is very very quite typing on it.After infuriatingly loud clicks with modern mechanical keyboards, I've switched back to the nice, quiet Saitek Eclipse II. Razer Deathadder 2012 mouse.
Took an updated picture of the wear on this thing, now have some for the right thumb too. Keys still look brand new though which is nice.Have been using my model f 77 at work after using it at home for a little while and even though I only am in the office 3 days a week the finish is already wearing off. Keep in mind this thing shipped to me in may last year, maybe the industrial grey colour just sucks.

It's one of the new ones from the model f store and no I don't think so, I play guitar and don't have issues with strings wearing down quickly and I don't wear long sleeves. That stinks.
Is it an original vintage one, or one of the modern reproductions?
Do you have particularly abrasive cuffs?

It may just be a defective coating on mine, hard to say since I haven't talked to the person that runs it but is interesting to document at least. I think the newer ones with the model-m style case use a different finish.
I don't really care too much about it TBH and most likely all of the F77 style ones are coated the same way since they're discontinued / clearing stock on them. I imagine the Model M style case ones are fine if they have been updated like you mentioned. That is a bummer. I had casually been considering ordering one of their products (though I was leaning beam spring), but after seeing this, I am not so sure. I don't want to spend $300 on a keyboard if it is going to wear out and look like shit in no time.
Are you planning on reaching out to them?
Edit:
Per this Q&A question it looks like they have transitioned all keyboards to a new powder coated aluminum chassis. Maybe that was because of issues like this? If they don't stand by it, I wonder if you can at least order a replacement chassis.
That is one beauty of a mouse.Got the Feinmann F01, number 1151 of 5000.

Costar is the OEM for Filco, and was for the Rosewill RK9000 keyboards (I have one)... As well as the origional CoolerMaster mechanical keyboards.. and a number of other brands, many of whom have switched to China OEM providers at this point.. but whatever. For myself the Made in Taiwan origin of my Filco and RK9000 was something of a selling point, as I have had good luck with products made in Taiwan in general.I believe Filco was the OEM on a couple Rosewill boards I got long ago. A brother still uses one as their main KB and I use the other for my CRT setup, rock solid basic keyboards.
New keyboard time.

I like it better than the One 3 Pro Nazca Line and that was my fav keyboard up to now.
It's tri-mode connection, inductive switches are low power so charges should last longer, web browser based software which is cool too.
That's one funky keyboard!!I made some major updates to my desk lately.... I was running a Corsair k70 mk.2 low profile and Corsair Glaive, both chorded. I finally decided to try something different... I got a wireless Asus ROG Keris Aimpoint for my laptop and was so impressed by it I decided to get the Asus ROG Gladius III for my gaming setup... I really love it too... fits in the hand so nicely with my claw grip, you definitely need to apply the grip stickers otherwise way slippery... and wow these new wireless mice have zero lag - you'd never know it was wireless, on my 240hz desktop I can't tell the difference between wired and wireless... the battery on these ROG mice is insane... I went for a whole 4 day trip with my laptop and it was only down to 70% with regular use..

I was looking for a matching ROG keyboard too but didn't really like any of them, so in my search I came across the GravaStar Mercury K1 lite...
https://www.gravastar.com/products/mercury-k1-lite-transparent-black
...and rolled the dice on it thinking I would probably send it back ... but wow I love this thing... it looks cool as shit and the keys are so so nice.. switches are so satisfying to type on... it's wireless but I am running it in wired mode.. It's taking a little bit to get used to the 75% form factor but after two days of use I feel very comfortable typing on it.. it doesn't have a volume knob on it so I got a usb knob that I thought looked kind cool (JUXINICE CP090) and goes with the whole setup fairly well...

Anyways pretty happy with the new perifs... It's been years since I switched things up. I tried the GravaStar M2 mouse also but it's just too small for me, so using it for an extra travel mouse.. it looks cool and tracks well.. just too small for regular use for me but a decent backup.
yeah.... it reminds me a little of my old 80 key Deck kb... but this is way nicer to type on.. so glad they put the ins, page up and page down on the right side there... it's pretty well thought out. That's one funky keyboard!!![]()
I love my Linear keyboards. I actually want it to feel as much like an HP NW8000 as I can because of how long I had that machine for. Mice.... I'm picky. Many of us change input devices on a regular basis, but many of us also use the same ones for years.
This thread is an opportunity for us to share what we're using right this second as well as maybe why, etc.
So post what you're using.![]()
