Looking at that Acer Predator 34" at 4k resolution + G-sync + 100Hz

I can't think of a setup that would be able to power that display.

Even with two 980ti in SLI you would have to scale down the video settings to like medium.

What do you think?

The closest you could get would be TitanX SLI right now, but the cost is absurd vs waiting a few months for a refresh.

The Predator X34 isn't 4K, it's 3440x1440. Quite a bit less pixels than 4K.

980 Ti in SLI can easily drive it to 90-100Hz, minus some games that don't scale well in multi GPU.

Good catch - for full 4K with eye candy on however, you need the VRAM of the TitanX to really get solid performance.

Oh, i thought that anything 3440 = 4k. My bad then.

But still, do you think it's worth to get Predator X34 @ 100Hz with 980Ti in SLI ?

By worth it - i mean would the gameplay be decent ?

I have the X34 and just use a single 980 Ti, and honestly, I'm very happy with the performance. Most games I play average at least 70-80 FPS, though I sometimes turn settings down that incur a large performance hit for little visual gain.

I'll upgrade to Pascal whenever that hits but not feeling the need to go SLI. At any rate, I'm sure 980 Tis in SLI would be an excellent pairing based off my experience with just one card :)

You will have no issue playing max setting with 980Ti SLI except where the games don't scale well with SLI.

What GPU setup that can drive 3440x1440 @ 100Hz heavily depends on the game and what settings you want to play at. Planning to play nothing but CSGO? You'll be just fine with a GTX 950. Want to play Witcher 3 at maxed out settings? Probably gonna need two 980 Ti

None really that can truly does 4k 100hz since theres no video card avail with the interface that can push that much bandwidth anyway...maybe next gen top of the line cards in sli mode assuming you have 1 card that can do 4k at 60 frame/s in sli to give 100+ if somehow theres a dual dp1.2 4k monitor that can be setup for that purpose. ...

As for 3440x1440 res about the most dual card set up you'll need is 2 x 290x or nvidia counter part that can match that and you'll be set.

^This

4k (3860x2160) = 8.3m pixels
3440x1440 = 5m pixels

I game at 4k, 60fps (VSYNC on) in most of my games. That's with a single GTX 970. That easily hits 90-100fps at 3440x1440. So as the above poster stated, it depends on what you play.

Even with 980Ti SLI you can't hit 100 FPS in The Witcher 3 with settings maxed. Even with the (strangely taxing in terms of scaling) vignetting option turned off. Around 70 FPS is the highest you'll see at 3440x1440. Perhaps a little higher with a more recent CPU, but not likely 100.
