Can you post your 8800GTX or Ultra temp? My new 8800GTX OC is idle at 65c full load at 89c (reading from Everest). I found when it is over 90c, it will crash to blue screen and need to be restarted the computer. Is it normal?

I know all the 8800 card are mfg by the same company and should be the same qaulity.

What do you think?

The crashing might be due to high temps or it might be your psu. Assuming your running everything stock clocks that is. What psu do you have?

49c loaded.

Than again my card has never been air cooled. Replaced the stock cooler the day I got it.

You're too hot, man.
Rivatuner here, 8800GTX in SLI: idle 44 C
loaded 72-75C
fans tuned to 80% above 69C and 100% above 73C:D

My MSI 8800GTX OC is 610MHz (core) and 2000MHz (memory). Everything in stock, air cool. My case is Antec 160PW (full tower case). Room temp is about 28c. I think my idle temp 65c is too hot (fan speed at 60%). If I turn the fan to 100%, it can drop to 60c idle, but it is noisy.

Ya agreed. Its possible you have a poor mount on the factory heatsink. You have 2 choices.

RMA is the safe bet.

Or you can pull your Heatsink, Reapply AS5 to the Core.

Between 58-63oC idle depending on how hot the weather is and 74-75oC max whilst gaming regardless of how hot the weather is over here, fan rate is stock so I havent got the fan running faster than what it should be, but when I did use rivatuner when I first got my 8800 back in november to set the fan rpm for 100% all the time as a test, the temps went from high 50s - low 60s to high 40s - low 50s and a max of 66'ish oC whilst gaming, all in all I am really happy with the temps of my XFX 8800gtx, what helps alot with me is that I have a side panel fan breathing directly onto the top of the vid card, without that fan idle temps are 72oC +/- 2oC

I really cant undertsand why I see people with temps of 80s 90s and above as I personally have never seen a video card of mine go past 80oC whilst gaming except one of my numerous 6800gt's which had a fan die on it and it hit 90oC but that was because of the dead fan, apart from that mid 70s seems to be the norm for me no matter what card I am using aslong as its from the fx range and upto present day cards.

I guess alot can be said about side panel fans and a slightly cooler climate :)

Well my Ultra was running pretty hot when I first got it, but I attribute that to room temperature being very hot. I idle at 52c and under load at 75c with fan turned up to 100%

I had an 8800 running in the high 60s at idle. It had tons of thermal paste on it so i cleaned it up and used some ceramique but it still ran hot under load (high 80s) and would sometimes completely shut the system down. Took the card back and got a new one, this card idles in the mid to low 50s and loads in the 70s. Without setting the fan to 100%.

rma the card, or take it back to the store. it shouldnt run that hot. someone asked and it is another possibility, what PSU do you have?

the point is if the card is running hot, like everyone is telling you (and it is for the G80 design specs no matter if its GTS, GTX or Ultra) go swap it out. Or dont, and deal with it.
