Looking for a good reliable power supply to run the following:

Supermicro X9dai
2x Xeon E5 2680v2
4x 8 gb DDR 3 ECC for 32 gb of ram probably go up to 64 gb later for total of 8 sticks.
One super power hungry video card. Want the option to get a GTX 790 or whatever dual gpu card is out then if I want it for Star Ctiizen or other demanding game.
2 x solid state drive
6 sata drives to start probably will end up with 10 or 12 eventually.
2x pcie Raid card Areca or LSI for video raid and cheaper card like a Highpoint for the data raid 1.
pcie sound card
fans
maybe a front bay if I get a soundblaster again.

I put it into the the power supply calculator I found online and it said 849 watts for 10 drives and a gtx 690. 790 is not out yet.

It recommended the following power supply
EVGA Supernova 1000 G2
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOV...6208&sr=1-1&keywords=evga+super+power+1000+g2

Is it worth getting the EVGA Supernova 1000 P2 for $20 more?

Both of those look pretty good with the 10 year warranty and Jonnyguru review.

terrabyte89 recommended a Silverstone 1kw power supply

Been buying PC Power and Cooling for years but they got bought by OCZ and went down the tubes.

Some real life friends were saying Corsair based on their experiences with the AX series but looks like Corsair discontinued the AX series and the new Corsair RM series is not very good from the reviews so what other options would you recommend?

the ax series is still alive and well and quite possibly could be the best set of PSU's on the market. the only downfall with them is the price, but then again you get what you pay for. i'm actually just finishing a dual xeon workstation build and went with an ax860i. I like being able to see real world power and efficiency stats with their link software right in windows. take a look at the jonny guru review of the AX860i:http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=317 I run an 860i in my gaming rig and had an ax1200 in my last build with dual water loops, triple graphics cards and 8 hdd's. they're pretty much the only ones I personally recommend to people, that's not to say there aren't other supplies just as good though. good luck.

Budget?

If you're not overclocking the GPUs, you'll be fine with 1000 watts. If you are overclocking the GPUs, bump it up to 1200 watts.

The Silverstone Strider Gold Evolution units are well reviewed, and have a small footprint compared to many other power supplies of the same power output.

Seasonic Platinums are very good but pricey. Corsair replaced the AX with the AXi series I believe, and those are good as well.

Thank you.

I think I'm either going with the Seasonic 1000 watt Platinum or is the EVGA 1000 W platinum worth getting. Have to figure out which case I want to get and make sure it fits.

I am leary of Corsair at this point. Friend just build a dual xeon 2697v2 hackintosh in December and had her Corsair ax1200i quit on her after less then 60 days and Corsair RMA has been terrible and not contacted her in over 2 weeks. Luckily nothing died. This is what am most leary of if your power supply dies it could kill other expensive components. She bought a replacement EVGA 1500 watt to get it back up and running. The Corsair monitoring software was buggy and kept crashing from what I hear too. Another friend with a tri sli system had his 1200i quit and had problems with RMA too.

@Tsumi
Budget really is whatever it costs. If its $400 for a reliable power supply that will last me 7+ years thats what it is. I understand the powersupply is the heart of the system and the most important component so willing to spend money on a good one.

Not likely to overclock but who knows. Never bothered to unlock my HD 6950 or over clock it so probably won't.

Not sure if its a bad batch but I know of 2 friends with dead AX1200i's one with a dual xeon system and other with a tri sli system.

well you're the one spending the money so make the decision that you're most comfortable with. I personally haven't had anything but 110% perfection from my ax series PSU's and software, and I stress them hard, but that doesn't mean there aren't contradictions to my experience out there either. there isn't a single power supply out there that doesn't have at least one bad user review. all in all I would just make sure to do your homework. the supplies you've listed are solid choices. good luck.

Seasonic Platinum 1000w, Cooler Master V1000, Enermax Platimax 1000w, and several others. Look for power supplies with high ratings from [H]OCP, JonnyGuru, or Hardware Secrets. I can tell you my RMA experience with Seasonic a few years ago was quick, easy, and painless. Corsair is generally good with RMA's as well, try contacting Redbeard on this forum (he's a Corsair rep).

Ultimately its your choice and plenty of excellent supllies have been suggested but I've had zero problems with my 2 AX (650 & 750) units, I've just killed a seasonic 400w platinum and am seriously thinking of getting a 3rd AX or AXi. I would not get a RM unit without reading the review of the specific model you want to get, apparently different wattages are built by different OEM's and performance is not equal.

As for corsair RMA, I've used it a few times now for various bits and have had zero problems, that's shipping from the UK to Cali and back again, 3 weeks and new unit is in my possession.
