I have been out of the vid card arena for awhile now since my last purchase was a 9800pro 128mb.

Where is the buyers guide so i can find out which cards are marketed for each range of consumers? Did someone delete it?

Instead of asking where the buyers guide is, why not just post your budget and ask for advice?

I was looking for a place to compare GPU specs and what all these different models were. With all of the series numbers I don't know if there is a card exactly the same in the 8 series as in the 9 series for nVidia cards that was just renamed or offered the same performance but cheaper.

I need 2 cards to run 4 monitors or 3 ranging from 20-30 inch screens.

I dont specifically have a budget set yet.

I am gauging how much things will cost and if it is worth it.

Well, lets see.
9800GTX == 8800GTS 512mb + higher clocks + Tri-SLI support
9800GX2 == 2x8800GTs in SLI (just remember only 1 monitor works with SLI)
GTS 320mb/640mb == skip these - they are beaten in performance by cheaper cards
8800 Ultra > 8800GTX > 8800GTS 512mb (all 3 are pretty close from what I remember - GTS 512mb is the newer G92 core and uses less power but has less vram and bandwidth, GTX and Ultra are older G80)
8800GT > 9600GT (but both have similar price/performance ratio)

That help? (someone please correct me if my info is off :) )
