I recently purchased a laptop. I received a free xbox 360 console with it as a bonus. I have no need for an xbox as I enjoy playing games on computer. After several failed attempts to sell the unit ( it seems as if everyone has an xbox by now ), I decided to give the unit away to my parents.

They never played a video game for a single day in their lives. They aren't enthusiastic and couldn't care less about the xbox but would be willing to give it a 'try' if I include some games.

I'm here to get some recommendations on what games to buy for them? Or if there is a better way to make good use of this console.

Buy them a 12-month of Xbox Live Gold and a Xbox remote.

Instead of buying them games, use the Xbox for it's other intended purpose - an extremely competent media center.

Use the Xbox to stream Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO Go, and EPSN3. Of course, this is assuming that they already pay for these services (EPSN3 is free on XBL). If they do, however, the 360 can serve as a great media hub that any person of any age can enjoy.

If your parents have never played a single video game before I can't think of any title that would change their minds now.

Good luck!

Get them a Kinect and some Kinect games, should be fun for people who have never played games before.

How old are said Parents? Above the 50 range? If so I would say some Kinect games or some arcade games. Uno and stuff is pretty good when family is across the map. If they are younger, more of the modern games would probably work. I am 40 so I am old enough to have kids in their 20's but I have chosen not to have kids. I play modern games all the time since I grew up with video games from the 2600 on.

Some of the board game variants like Ticket to Ride, Catan, etc. are great. You Don't Know Jack is also a good one. Playing anything that requires two separate axes to control (ie. fps style games) is going to prove frustrating. Start them off simple.
