What DPI do you run your mouse for everyday usage?

I don't know how 10,000 DPI is practical. Is this for higher resolutions than 1080p?

PS I just got an adjustable DPI mouse (had the MX-518 but it didn't have such a wide range on the slider) but anything over about 3500 DPI seems unusable to me...

1800~2400 for 1440p.

My mouse goes all the way up to 12,000 dpi though. I don't use it, but I bought G502 marginally based on that, ergonomics and customizibility of the mouse were far more important.

Though it's one of the few things I'd consider "better have and not need it, than want it and not have it", at least it'll be less prone to games with inhumanely low sensitivity.

So you're with me.

Is anyone using 10,000 DPI on a mouse? What is the application? Thanks.

It is useless on the desktop but FPS games can take advantage of ridiculous DPIs.

This is because in an FPS you aren't limited by resolution, instead every dot you move the mouse turns your view X degrees.

So for example if in a game you use 10 sensitivity and 1,000 DPI you could get the exact same turning speed but 10 times the precision if you lower your sensitivity to 1 and increase your DPI to 10,000.

But 10k DPI is probably well beyond the accuracy most people can distinguish.

I think I was using 800 at 1080P, but since I upped my screen to 1440P I am using a higher setting and have to fine tune. I think it's 1,250 right now.

1080p - 1200 DPI, anything over 2500+ on the same resolution is really only useful for gaming. I drop the DPI down a lot (400-600) when using Photoshop or something. faster than changing Window's sensitivity!

I use 1200 DPI with a polling rate of 1 MHz for everything at 2560x1440 with default Windows pointer settings. I used 800 DPI when I was still on a 1920x1080 display. I find with this setting that I often don't have to mess around with sensitivity at all in games.

The higher DPI is very useful in games that severely lower sensitivity when aiming down sights or zooming with no separate settings. With the profiling on my G700S I can set DPI levels on a per game basis, so it's only one click up when zooming in (usually 2400-6000 DPI, depending on the game) and one click down when going back to normal.

400 while browsing the net. 1200 while playing in Eyefinity.

2560x1440
G400 (Optical)
800 CPI for desktop and most games - may get bumped to 1600 for temporary use of a vehicle/turret in an FPS game - haven't played a multiplayer fps in quite some time though.

Tried to DSR a few games, immediately realized the CPI would need a bump if I were continue down that path. Far too much of a disparity at that point.

MX518 with 400 DPI with mouse acceleration enabled @ 1680x1050 (with acceleration off would need to be 800 dpi but I prefer the feel at 400 dpi with mouse acceleration).

This surprises me. I run mine usually around 2600 or 2800 and I'm at 1080 and strictly a gamer. I figured everybody would be using the higher settings and that's why they're so popular in mice now. You guys using ~800 DPI, are you using that for gaming or desktop use?

The more I refine it, anything over 2000 is really unusable for me. I'm at 1800 dpi right now. Can't imagine using 3,000 - 10,000 dpi for anything. Maybe my hands are too shaky.

4500DPI for productivity
It's at 3K resolution though.

For gaming at 1080p I use 2800-3000DPI on 24".
Lowest I can go without getting frustrated is 2000DPI.

I run 800dpi at 1920x1080 with a corsair sabre optical mouse. I mostly play csgo and if I run at a higher dpi I have to lower the in game setting below 1.

Are people changing the windows mouse setting off of 6/11?

Windows 7: 1920x1200, Logitech g5 @ 1600 dpi, Windows pointer speed 7/11, Enhance pointer precision off

Gaming: 1920x1080, g5 @ 400 dpi, in game sensitivity usually 1.8-2.2 depending on game.

Why not higher dpi and lower sens in gaming?

I use 550 dpi for cassual gaming and then 600-800 when things goes wild in games :D

400 DPI and 500 polling rate on a 1440p monitor. Same settings I use for every game I play.

Hmm... I feel I am the weird one lol.

Just double checked, the setting I usually have my G502 on during desktop usage is 2400 DPI with 1000hz polling, on a 1440p monitor lol.

Either my windows mouse cursor setting is wonky, or I have a huge precision with mouse.... I extremely doubt its the latter...

2400 isn't that high. I use 1200 but I have used 2400 before and it is well within a typical human threshold for per pixel accuracy, it just isn't as comfortable to me making such small movements.

I use 1200 DPI for both at 1440p 144 Hz. I honestly couldn't care less about how high the resolution is. The polling rate is most important for me, and I feel that polling rate is most important for gaming. The three things that made me choose the G700S were its weight/size, polling rate, and adjustable DPI in that order.

This, right here. The smaller the movements you have to make, and the more often you have to make them, will hasten the effects of RSI.

That makes no sense, I thought DPI setting changes how much you have to move your mouse to get to your desired location, not how often.

1980x1200+1680x1050 are my resolutions on my desktop. I run 2000dpi, 1000hz polling for non-games.

For FPS games, I run 800-1200dpi.
