What do you use for stress testing these days?

is there anything other than 3dmark that you use to stress test a new build or for overclocking\/ i am upgrading my old system here with a 8800GT for folding but want to make sure it is stable.

also what is the best overclocking tool?

Prime95 for base stability. The Lost Planet demo has a looping performance test. Quite taxing and I've found it useful. If your system can run this overnight its solid

RivaTuner is the best overclocking tool IMHO.

Prime95 for general stability, ATITool artifact scanner for GPU stability.

For GPU overclocking itself, I use EVGA's Precision tool that came with my GTX 280. Nice and streamlined for an overclocking n00b like me. ;)

I find rthdribl is great for stress testing the GPU. Generally I run rthdribl and ATi Tool scanner with an instance of Prime95 per core for stress testing.

Orthos and rthdribl after I have the OS installed. I do a couple of hours testing using Memtest86+ before installing the OS.

Stability testing:

3DMark06
3DMark Vantage
Crysis GPU benchmark (this one is very good for stability)

Stress (temperature) testing:

ATITool cube
3DMark06 batch tests
Crysis GPU benchmark (loop it 15-20 times)

For stress testing, I use Folding@home. I can prime95 and orthos all day with certain overclocks, but Folding BSODs or freezes in no time. Folding stresses like no other. For GPU... Crysis loops.

Furmark... I've never seen another application that can heat up a GPU like this little guy...

age of conan menu screen, lol, try it yourself, high power draw sitting in the aoc main menu, also the jericho menu screen hehe

For CPU/RAM Prime 95, remember when testing with Prime95 to run one instance for each core you have.

3DMark Vantage, 3DMark06 for video, loop it overnight.

Furmark for GPU, Orthos for CPU. Both at the same time for overall stability and to test the limits of the case, GPU and CPU cooling. This is useful when testing a CPU overclock, because the additional heat generated by the GPU will cause the CPU, mobo, RAM etc. to run hotter, potentially revealing stability issues that were not present with just the CPU under load. Plus, on a cold winter's day, I can use my computer as an electric heater that way :p

+1 to Furmark

In those cold winter months, nothing keeps me warm like running FurMark on an overclocked X1950XT.

Well, that and my Xbox360.

Furmark For GPU of course, leave it a couple of hours (mainly while you sleep) and you won't even need a blanket ;)
