What do you use for mobile gaming audio?

Trying to figure out some kind of decent compromise here. I've been using HD598 headphones on my desktop for years now but they aren't really the easiest to use with a laptop, the cord continuously tries to coil up and is just generally annoying, plus it needs a decent sound card.

I was looking at a wireless headset since I could use a mic too, but all of them seem to be a bunch of money wasted on LED accents and gimmicky 7.1 emulation, not to mention absolutely massive which is impractical for a backpack.

Anyone have a suggestion that I can look at?
