What do you guys use all your computers for?

ok i have 3 computers and box that someone shitted in and slapped a gateway logo on (4 pcs total)

1-gateway hunk of crap for my parents
2-a p-1 ibm laptop that is used primarily for porn i call it the porn-top
3-a p-2 compag laptop used for ordering pizza online while using the porn top for those special times...
4-the badass biatch in my sig wich is used for playing games while waiting for porn videos to buffer and the pizza to ARRIVE

My computers are named after all my ex-girlfriends. Don't take it as a bad obsessive way. It's just comical.

All six of 'em are named: Rojan, Tirany, Maya, Rasha, Shannon and Hinda. :X

is Tirany pronounced like Tyranny because if so...well thats just scary

Nice try. A lot of people assumed it was pronounced as Tyranny. But it's not, thankfully. She's actually a sweet, helpful, friendly girl (as opposed to scary). Her name pronounced as Tear-any. Tir is pronounced just by itself. Just add the Any. Tirany.

Currently one of my best friends today. :)

Err, that's how I pronounce tyranny, and how most other's I've heard say it...

Anyways;
1 box for parents for internet, Mahong, card games, and Flight Simulator 2004 (old PII, Win2K)
1 for my brother for mostly internet and GTA 3(Athlon XP 1500+, Win2K)
1 for me to run for internet, installing various forms of Linux, and UT2004(Athlon XP 2600+, Gentoo Linux)
1 spare box incase mine fails (Dual PII 400MHz, Knoppix/undecided)
innumerable not quite together systems, ranging in size from a board that can fit in a CDrom bay, to a massive 12U (or maybe 14U) Compaq Proliant rack mount dual processor beast, and ranging in power from an 8088 to a Via C3 800MHz.

1 Box is a web server (IBM Netserver 6000R thanks to work).
1 box is my browsing, tunes, sometimes games machine. AMD 1800+
1 box is my gaming machine. AMD 64 3000+
1 laptop is for linux installs and testing.
1 box is my wifes 'crafts' machien.
1 laptop is work, that the wife and I use for wireless browsing when watching TV.

I say it as tie-ranny. Then again it came from my assumption of "Tyrant". Ehh, my bad. So yes, it's Tyranny in your terms, but spelt differently. :)

1 xp pro network file server, alot of files and no porn of any type.
1 Xp pro machine running f@h.
1 Server 2003 standard edition gaming/folding machine. And yes it is stable as running this OS for gaming.

Please note I have a 25 user lisense for 2003 server, so the rest run the same OS. I however do not have 25 computers. The list goes on.

1 standard 2003 server running a forum for my website and it runs f@h.
1 2003 server running active directory with dns and also runs f@h.
1 hp laser jet printer mod running windows 2000, yes it is the one in the worklogs.
1 2003 server, printserver and my fathers computer.
1 pentium 3 xeon quad server running dual processors, waiting for my father to place 20amp circuit breakers in wall panel to run the machine.

1 quad xeon mod physically attached to the top of the other pentium3 quad xeon case which I am trying to get running. And both will be running f@h.

You realize that a 25 user license for 2003 Server means that you can install one server and have 25 clients access it, right?

Yeah I saw that too. I just said...........nah, he doesn't think he can install 2k3 on 25 machines does he?

I will still stick by my decision of having 2003 server as a secure os.

My father wanted me to find an os that is secure and stable. I asked to put linux, but he declined, so windows stays on the systems.

Oh btw I downgraded about two of the machines back down to Windows 2000 pro, because I am too cheap to get and don't have the cash on me to buy new parts.

Ok when I typed that it didn't dawn upon me I typed something wrong and my mind seemed to have floated away somewhere.

They do sell server licenses, if you happen to have more than one server in your network.

CHRNO - mac mini - my computer for general use
GUNTHER - Thinkpad R51 - my computer for school
DR-FEELGOOD - Satelite Pro 4200 - brother's computer
XELLOS - P4 2.53 - parents computer
REZO - P4 2.8 - my HTPC
MOSKAU - P4 3.0 - sister's computer

Thats all of them ... name and all

That would be:

SEPHIROTH
RATATOSK
DARWIN

and

That crappy SOYO board that's sitting around doing nothing because I'm not sure at what point it's going to kill my crappy early-1900s wiring.

I'm at school now but i still run the home network so i'll list them all together:

ender - p3 1ghz laptop
aku - a64 2ghz gaming desktop
mini-me - c3 1ghz linux server

darkling - p4 2.8ghz home gaming desktop
older brother's laptop
dad's laptop
mom's desktop

and several computers not running currently, including an SGI O2 named Malignant. bet most of you don't have old SGIs just sitting around :)

i named them not because i can't remember ip addresses, but because its easier to communicate with others and each computer sort of gets a personality. for instance ender is really getting grumpy in his old age :(
