You are kidding, right? Buy two R9 3900x's and build two computers. A 3950X wourld be you best option for a single cpu, however, at that budget. Enjoy.
That's not bad at all. My 3700X hits 4.3 while gaming but that's the highest I've seen. So that's same gaming performance as mine but at $100-120 less. I think the 3600 is possibly the best cpu on the market dollar for dollar.
I have an Intel Core i5-6600k and I am thinking about making the switch to AMD. I am trying to decide if I want to wait for next gen or buy 3600/3700x now. What do you have now? If you do not have a 3000 series processor already, go ahead and upgrade, you will not regret it. I have a 3600 and 3700x, both were a significant upgrade over the already fast 1600 and 1700. (I have a 2600 as well and they are significantly faster than that, as well.)
well the 3600 shouldnt drop to bad in value, compared to what happened to the 2700x.....no reason you cant just sell it after the new ones come outI have an Intel Core i5-6600k and I am thinking about making the switch to AMD. Are you running anything other than gaming? No? 3600. If doing other production tasks, 3700X.I have an Intel Core i5-6600k and I am thinking about making the switch to AMD. I am trying to decide if I want to wait for next gen or buy 3600/3700x now.
It is mostly gaming. I have an RTX 2070 I play Doom Eternal and Quake Champions. I can't decide if I want to upgrade the CPU or the monitor I don't think that I want to make the jump to 4k, but (2560 x 1440 at 165) would be nice. Trying to decide the best bang for the bucks upgrade. Are you running anything other than gaming? No? 3600. If doing other production tasks, 3700X.
My 3600 has 4.3Ghz game clocks and can boost to 4.4Ghz in game .
why do people keep recommending 6 core processors for gaming rigs?! You all do know the new consoles are both going to have 8 core / 16 thread Zen2 proc's in them right. So good luck with that 6 core once the newer games start to drop. But hey, if you build a new rig every year then do you. I try to build mine to last.
oh yeah and if you guys saw the demos of the new consoles, I'd def want a board w/ pcie 4.0 because newer games will be taking advantage of top end performing nvme storage. So keep that in mind.In before the bad comparison with the old console 8 core parts. 6 core 12 thread will be fine for a few years, especially since the porting of games is not always done very well.
Maybe because it will not make a difference and they are more educated in it than you? Just a guess.oh yeah and if you guys saw the demos of the new consoles, I'd def want a board w/ pcie 4.0 because newer games will be taking advantage of top end performing nvme storage. So keep that in mind.
Maybe a better cooling solution would help and/or better air flow through your case ... ? If you can't keep the chip cool, it's not going to boost as high. You're lucky. My 2 3600's are awful. The first one wouldn't boost over 4150mhz, the second does 4250.
If you can run your RAM at 3800mhz w/ as tight of timings as possible and then run your IF at 1900 1:1 ratio .. that is going to give you optimal results .. generally you're not going to be stable with IF past ..or even at 1900 .. you want to get IF as fast as possible and then match your ram. What is everyone ones thoughts on the ram speed? Thanks
