Beat Elden Ring at the 140 hr mark just before receiving my Steam Deck. After receiving my Steam Deck I've been playing LAN games with my brother. Currently playing through the Dead Rising 2 expansion with Frank West. It's a blast in coop. RE5 is up next.

How in the world did you find a spare 140 hours to throw at gaming? Holy shit I'm lucky if I can launch a single game up and sink a whooping 30 mins of time into it all weekend lol

I picked up Shadow of the Tomb Raider for $13 on Steam, so I will get started on that. Of course I still need to finish Dying Light 2 and AC: Valhalla. Too many games to beat, too little time!

I tried to get into Assassin's Creed Odyssey and realized my efforts were futile and it is not humanly possible to complete such a long drawn out game. I gave up and ended the torture lol

Took a break from Elden Ring lately, but have been playing V Rising (Solo mode) he past few days. You might laugh, but also been playing My Time at Sandrock when i want to relax a bit which it is good for imho. Hoping HZD Forbidden West comes out in the next year so i can spend all y time on that. (Beat the original game)

I've been playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the writing is worse than the complaints led me to believe.

The challenge tombs are still the best part of the game, so far. I haven't revisited the prior entries but I recall them being less busy with resource/crafting garbage.

Interesting you ask me that because I'm the last person to beat the game out of everyone I know personally - some of those people even claim they're not gamers and there were others who claimed to not even like the game. It took me months to beat the game (I started playing the hour it released).

IMO Elden Ring isn't just a game, but an event. The Souls series was niche and grew its fanbase over time. From Software stayed true to their colors and it paid off. Elden Ring was basically a titatanic, mainstream launch of a niche game series. And it was massively successful. They stuck with their style and it paid off. The only people I see complain about these games are people who'd I call "mechanics spergs". Otherwise most people would agree the series has grown over time into something quite amazing.

But on a personal level - frankly I spend too much time playing games. I could be doing more productive things. I could try to defend myself and make the argument that my enthusiasm for gaming has fueled my interest in programming and IT, and taught me how to identify and fix issues that people have with their games if I'm being paid to fix their issues. Additionally I spent the entirety of that time bonding with my brother, which is important to me because family is important to me. And as someone who works in IT - I'd argue I'm better balanced than most. I make an effort to be fit and I've learned to be someone you'd never want to mess with (in real life) for reasons you'd nobody would admit on an public internet forum. Most people I've worked with in IT are very...fragile (to put it nicely).

Ultimately all I can say is you have a valid point and I should have spent more of that time reading non-fiction and philosophy from authors I consider important. And if anyone shares interest in history, philosophy, or similar, please shoot me recommendations.

Trying to decide between:

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin
Sniper Elite 5
Ghostwire Tokyo
Far Cry 6

Want to do FC6 but kind of tired of open world Ubisoft style things at the moment. SOP FFO seems a bit buggy? Might end up going with Sniper Elite and Ghostwire. Already got Sniper Elite in Game Pass ($1 currently, 3 months) so that seems like the logical choice.

But I'll be playing 1 (or 2) of those over the week.

So... I can't believe this but I had one hell of a fun time playing this game (Need for Speed (2015) over the weekend on PlayStation. I bought it a long time ago, but never played it much b/c the live action cutscenes were extremely corny and turned me off to the game. They tried to reboot the NFS: Underground games with this one, and honestly after playing it over the weekend I love it. It's just stupid fun. I muted the music, put on my own music, got drunk, and had a grand old time. lol. Playing this game made me realize what made NFS: Underground 2 so fun back in the day... it was the customization and the music. So I suggest muting the music, putting on your own Spotify playlist, skipping the cutscenes, and just having fun. It's a fun little distraction and customizing the cars is really fun. Also despite the ENTIRE game taking place during a dark rainy night the graphics looks really crisp and the night time aesthetic fits the tone of the game... so there is really no time of day changes and it's raining 98% of the time but the graphics look great given the purposeful weather and time of day choices to make it look as good as possible without having to worry too much about how things would look in a brightly lit world.

Playing around with the Quarry. For all practical purposes it's a movie with occasional exploration sequences (typically not long) and super-easy quicktime events. The production values are high, but it's not much of a game. That's even in comparison to Quantic Dream's titles and such.

Well then, that's all I need to know. I tried all three demos when they ported to Steam a few years ago.

1. Fahrenheit -feels like you're trying to guess the entire script of a bad B-movie, but haent yet had your first ,read-through - how is this a "good" gamer?
2. Heavy rain - actually starts-out solid with it's stylish dialog trees, but got frustrated with several hidden clues in a dark and wet surface all have to be found before the plot can continue.
3. Beyond Two Souls had clunky controls for the interface when the special power is activated, and I eventually got frustrated..

I didnt buy FF7 but a fool to you is someone who enjoys a game differently than you do? You may not like the evolution of the gameplay but that doesn't mean others don't enjoy the action style combat so who are you to judge them as fools? Take your toxicity elsewhere.

Turn based is good for pure strategy games. For action adventure/RPGs, I prefer real time combat instead. I also enjoyed FF7 Remake. I didn't play the original but the game is apparently around 52 hours. FF7 Remake Part 1 is around 49 hours. It is more than enough content to be its own game.

Finally started playing Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Wow. Very atmospheric game. Great dialog, and great voice acting. Just spent a little over an hour on it and I can already tell I'm going to like it.

Capcom Fighting Collection will be out on Friday. I have most (maybe even all) of the games on FBNeo, but I appreciate/support Capcom's efforts at the very least. I figure I'll be rocking some Darkstalkers matches in-between chapters of the Quarry. I still find myself unable to play the Quarry for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. It's like 90% just a movie, but the other 10% is oddly stressful since there are no re-dos. Plus, the "right/wrong" decisions are often pure chance, a la those old Choose Your Own Adventure books. What makes the most sense isn't always right.

Just tried Borderlands 3 for 20 mins. I wanted to love it so much, but there was a huge lack of innovation and creativity except for the art style which is very cool. Next time I'll give cyberpunk the 20 mins and see how it goes.

Heavy Rain was kind of cool back in the day but these type of games get old fast. I'm amazed at all these story games that have bad stories. They seem to have strong Young-Adult novel vibes. Stories that are dumbed down because they are convinced the average gamer can't handle a substantial story. Another reason that it I want a good story, I'll read a good book. There are no shortage of good books. Good games on the other hand...

This version has all of the Vampire games. Even the ones that were Japan-only, although they've all been available via FBNeo/Alpha and Fightcade. At one time I was pretty decent at those games (I mostly played in the arcade, but also on the Saturn), but I'm rusty as hell. I still remember how to play Dimitri and Bishamon, but Sasquatch used to be my main.

It's actually a pretty polished package in my 30 minutes with it so far. Easily better than the 30th Anniversary Street Fighter Collection, which was similarly just an arcade emulator + roms. Worth $40? That's kinda debatable. I like to think I'm just supporting these old franchises, otherwise it's kind of a ripoff for anyone who understands emulation.

Heavy Rain had some odd plot holes. And an odd end sequence. The antagonist was good in that I didn't expect him. But the other plot holes were so jarring.
