What are my options (on the cheap)

ok, heres "the situation"
i have a spare computer lying around that i want to run my ftp from (as it is half as loud, and i cant use it for anything else)

ok, heres "the problem"
My router only has 4 ports, and they are all full. the spare computer will be in my closet, not 10 feet from my main computer. How can i get this spare computer online?

what are the cheapest options here?

put 2 network cards into the box, run it with 'network bridge' software enabled (server OSes and *nix have this ability)... or just go find a reconditioned D link DSS-5+ 5 port switch, ive seen those for like $14...

Buy a swith and uplink from one of the ports on your router. Two of your workstations will need to be on the switch but you'll be much happier than trying to bridge with windows.

I never said anything about windows and I dont think he did either. a good freeBSD box would be perfect for FTP/bridge.

but Like I said, I would just get a reconditioned DSS-5+...
