what are my options for a front end system

i have a media server right now, with 4x1 tb drives, and i am using a dell e520 hooked to my tv to stream. i basically want to know what is available to me that is small, quiet, and can playback 1080p. price isnt too much of a concern, but i would like to be able to use a logitech remote with it.

edit: also, i have a 6.1 system, accepts optical or coaxial, so it needs to support that as well. most of my stuff is xvid, and i have some hd stuff in mkv. still lots of codec support would be nice.

err are you asking for hardware recommendations or software, title says software but text says hardware

i would like to have something dedicated to stream media from the linux file server. i thought front end was a term that could encompass hardware as well as software.

i don't really care if an htpc is the best thing, but it doesn't seem that way.
