whast the deal with the AOpen AK79D

Internal chipset timings are probably what accounts for the slightly better scores of the AK79 over the Asus NForce2.

You mean in games? Not sure.
It might be mislabeling. Check out the original AK79 review. The 3200 beats the 2500 in every gaming test.


If you go back a page in tha article you'll see that in media conversion tests the 2500 is right about where it should be in that pack of processors, at the tail end (being the slowest).

The overclocking situation explained in the original article was not encouraging resulting in a "thumbs down", but its possible this has changed with a BIOS update.
