Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS 500GB $39.99 shipped

Not bad at all. Found some refurb 500GB Hitachi drives at Fry's on Friday, $44 each and they work great (fully tested when I got 'em home with DFT from start to finish, no problems).

But if I was still looking for some drives I'd be all over this... :)
 
yea got me a new 750gb hitachi on friday at frys, but would've rather got these since i trust WD alot more
 
The Seagate barracuda .12 500GB is supposed to be faster than the 640 black and it's only 39.99.
 
Can anyone confirm if they are shipping the 500GB single platter on these?
 
Dang. Bought a 250gb WD Blue from the Egg last week for the same price. Oh well, I really don't need that much space in a laptop.
 
I just picked up one from Microcenter for $50. Good thing about that was I could pick out one that had a 500Gb platter instead of one of the older ones.
Deciding if I should go for another. Newegg also has the blue 1tb for $65 shipped.
