Not how to explain this more thoroughly but when I turn my pc on it starts up slowly and if I click the start but it shows the loading circle and reboots explorer. This only occurs with my 2080 and does not via any of my other video cards. This just started happening back in January and I've since reinstalled windows a few times to check. Its this something that is common its happened on two different computers(x399 and x570)?

its this video card:

sounds like the card is going bad. so when the nvidia driver is loaded its crashing explorer. if you uninstall the nvidia driver and use whatever generic drivers windows comes with I'm thinking windows would work fine.

whats odd is that it works just fine in my 9700k build with none of the issues of the 5800x and 1950x setups. Im already saving up for a new card so we will see but this is just odd behavior.

hm, so its an issue on amd builds. maybe see if theres bios updates for the card and the motherboard? since it started happening in jan I'm guessing its some issue with the card. or possibly a windows update? can you rma it?

Nah. I bought the card 3rd party along with the new 5800x. Ive got a work computer coming in soon with a new 2070 I'll try to use to see if it keeps happening.

I do need to clean the 2080 though. Maybe I'll see something that makes sense of all this. Hopefully soon. I'll post pcb pictures when I do the tear down.

Nah I bought the card third party and the brand doesn't even exist anymore. I've got a 2070 from work I can borrow to see if it keeps happening.

Just popped in the 2070 and the same behavior is happening. So I don't think my 2080 is dying. I'll do a bios reset and see if it helps. But I did try the latest driver and both PCIE slots on both towers. I've never seen this before.

weird, are you plugging in the extra power connectors? maybe the power coming from the wall is not good? check the bios settings?
