Quick question.

I have an Asus WL500g router/AP/bridge device that I purchased about 18 months ago. I want to connect a couple devices (ps2, etc) where its not practical to run ethernet.

I see with some 3rd party firmware, the Linksys WRT54g can act in WDS mode.

Wireless isnt a strong point with me, but in general terms...

Can I expect "Wireless device from Company A" to work with "Wireless Device from Company B" as long as they both act as a WDS device?

edit: The only reason I'm picking the Linksys WRT54g's is due to their price. If someone can point me to another Asus WL500g for the same ballpark price, I'll be all over it.

Gonna bump my own thread here....

Purchased a WTG54gs v2.0 and flashed with DD-WRT v23 per suggestions from this forum.

My other router is an Asus WL-500G using Oleg's 1.9.2.7-5a firrmware but the factory Asus firmware gives the same functionality.

At any rate, it works fairly well. Given the construction of my house and placement of my two AP's, they only get about 18mbps to each other, but thats more than enough for my applications.
