WD640AAKS high access times?

HD Tune gave me a 17ms access time for my WD640AAKS. Is there a way that I can speed it up? I dont think thats normal for this drive?
 
No real easy way to do it that I could find.

Download Hitachi;s HD tool...google
burn the iso and boot from it.

Then set AAM to 255 or the max possible.

Restart and run HD tune again.. should be fine
 
I downloaded Hitachi's Feature Tool and changed my AAM to 254 (highest setting) I have a 12.7ms access time now with no noticeable increase in HD noise. Thanks for the help.
 
Once you change AAM though in HDTune Pro, it cannot be changed again without doing the same thing or would the drive ever default to that again?
 
it will stay at whatever u set it to unless you use software to change it again
 
Thanks, I figured as much cause my 320AAKS is around 16.7ms so I want to try and bring that down before I get a 640AAKS.
