Rip all your Blu Rays and/or 4K Disks and you can stream all your movies without any loss of quality, rather than changing disks. This question is for you and anyone else that wants to answer. What are you using all that storage for, movies, TV shows, music, porn? Be specific.
Thanks
I thought that ripping 4K movies was a popular use but even if you assume 100 GB/movie (which is high) that is 140 movies/disk and some people have 5 of these. 700+ movies is a lot!

thanks, must be late : D
I don't have 5 of these. I do have 5 of the 8TB ones. By the time I fill those up, I'll probably buy a few of whatever the new 14TB drive is...or maybe by then huge SSDs will be reasonable, but I doubt it.I thought that ripping 4K movies was a popular use but even if you assume 100 GB/movie (which is high) that is 140 movies/disk and some people have 5 of these. 700+ movies is a lot!

I bought the Elements drive from Amazon. Even though it is pretty much the exact same drive as the EasyStore, it isn't the same drive, so they wouldn't price match. I think the EasyStore is a BB exclusive.
OK, I found this interesting, I got an email from Amazon today about this :It is.
"Where can I buy WD easystore?
To start with, the WD Easystore range of hard drives are only available through Best Buy. Best Buy is a US firm trading in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. This means that the Easystore isn’t officially available outside of these countries, as the product is exclusive to Best Buy."

stripping the external assembly off the internal hard drive.Forgive my ignorance, but what does drive "shucking" mean?

If you're going to need another that soon, you may want to buy 2. It did show up last spring, but no guarantees that it will. Personally i'm awash in 8TB drives, so until I fill those up, I'm good...and by then, there will probably be reasonably priced 20TB drives.I ordered one! Should be arriving in a few days. Another 14TB should last me a couple months until this deal pops up again...
I'll shuck it and give the SMART results.
Finances are a fickle thing at the moment. Our state went back into full shutdown so my income was cut to less than half for the forseeable future. If you're going to need another that soon, you may want to buy 2. The best you can get is roughly $100/TB for the Micron 8TB drives, not amazing but not awful either.Still mad that 20TB+ drives don't exist at this price. Magnetic media is expanding at a snails pace. Actually HD tech in general. There aren't affordable 4TB/8TB SSD's of any kind (whether NVME, SATA, or m.2 SATA - or any type - not even QVO); and like I said, magnetic media is super slow on getting bigger and/or faster.
Despite all that this is decent for what it is. Provided it's not a gimped shingle drive.
I just moved to a cinema camera and if I shoot in ProRes Raw it can eat a TB in 1 hour worth of recording. So to say I need a lot of HD space would be an understatement. In regular ProRes it’s about 5 hours a TB.The best you can get is roughly $100/TB for the Micron 8TB drives, not amazing but not awful either.
My ~20TB are slowly filling up, I think I'm at less than 2TB left, and I just added this 10TB drive about 5 months ago.
