Watercooling a Athlon64 with heatspreader removed

Guys,

I'm looking to watercool my Athlon 64. I bought the CPU-300 by Koolance and was wondering if I could use the Blue knob (Koolance comes with a blue and black knob/tightener and the black is for Athlon64s and the blue for Athlon XPs) with the 64 if I remove the heatspreader. Has anyone tried this?

I haven't done this nor would I wish to. The different colored screws provide for different torque settings on the CPU. So...you might want to be very careful after taking off the heat spreader

Yep, use the blue knob. An A64 with a lid wants arount 80 pounds of mounting force, a lidless A64 needs the same 20-25 pounds that the AthlonXP used.
