Not only was George A. Romero a major influence to the zombie film genre, he also had a huge impact on the videogames industry with his undead creatures. With his recent passing, many are paying their respects by highlighting his career. The original Resident Evil from Capcom, took heavily from his films and what better way to say "Thanks" than by letting the master direct a commercial for you.

Check out the video.

Capcom hired two Tokyo-based firms to make the commercial, so it's unsurprising that Romero would refer to Resident Evil 2 by its Japanese name. It's unclear if the ad ever aired outside of Japan, since it contains the release date (Jan. 29, 1998) and price (6,800 yen, which would have been about $54.21 on that date) for that region in Japanese text.

That was actually a really good video, thank you for sharing.
RIP George Romero, you made some of the best zombie movies ever and you will be missed.

I still wonder how his Resident Evil movie would've turned out since Capcom passed on his script because from the words of one of the producers it "sucked." Can't fault them though, it is nearly a billion dollar franchise.

Only cause there was 7 of them. They were safe low budge movie that mad a decent profit. That said i enjoyed most of them enough.

Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and Land of the Dead...paired-up with Savini's remake of Night = my idea of Zombie movies. You can watch the newer Dawn....that's acceptable from a different, more nervous-anxiety ridden POV but his other Zombie movies were phone-in's that shouldn't even be rented. Diary of the Dead, Phonebook of the Dead.....the last couple he did after LAND felt more like student films he was lending-a-hand on, I don't think I finished them. Land is a tough-sell, its weird because its a big budget zombie movie....with recognizable stars...I love it, but its an action/fluff pic and Romero, unfortunately, ruined it with that "Screaming ANgry Zombie of Compassion"...there's a drinking game hiding in there for sure. "oh, he looked at the camera and growled in angst again! DRINK".

If it were made in the late 1990s or early 2000s, it would have been leagues better than the trash that the Anderson-franchise made of those movies, save for the first one, which was average at best.
