I wonder who is more incompetent; the WB executives who are butchering their directors’ work or their lawyers, who are apparently listing their own, legit sites as piracy links? Listings would suggest that the company wants official sites for movies such as The Dark Knight and The Matrix taken down.

Warner only hurts itself with these erroneous takedown requests. Unfortunately, however, Warnerbros.com is not the only ‘legitimate’ domain that’s being targeted. The same notices highlighted above also target a link to the Amazon store, where users can rent or buy a copy of The Dark Knight. In addition, it targets a link to Batman Begins in the Sky Cinema store, as well as the film’s official IMDb page. In other words, Warner is inadvertently trying to make it harder for the public to find links to legitimate content, which runs counter to their intentions.

Google needs to just tell these people to go fuck themselves, take the sites down and then inform them they need to provide court papers proving they own the sight. Maybe after the legal battle with themselves they might let up a bit on the stupidity of it all.

Warner Bros., in an attempt to stop piracy, shoots self in foot and pauses to reload.

those three movies constitute three strikes. remove the offending domain from google permanently, and apply a giant piracy notioce to anyone who searches for warner brothers

My money is on some pissed off cog in their machine fighting back in his own, little way. Can't stop the DMCA takedown requests, but can dump some glue on the system by targeting themselves, if not for effect, but for a good bar story.
