This appears to be the AT&T LTE variant of the One X (Snapdragon S4).

It's the same price as the 16GB Nexus 4.

Advantages over the Nexus 4:
-LTE (compatible with AT&T and T-mobile)
-Better camera
-Better screen
-Not a glass back (i.e. a lot less fragile)

Disadvantages over the Nexus 4:
-Worse CPU and less RAM (dual-core S4 and 1GB RAM, as opposed to quad-core S4 and 2GB RAM on the Nexus)
-Sense 4 and Android 4.1 (and slow updates compared to the Nexus)
-No HSPA+ on 1700/2100MHz (bad for T-mobile customers in non-refarmed areas)

I am going to disagree with the Sense and Android assessment as HTC has been quite supportive of unlocking these phones through HTCdev.com. Get your unlock code and load what ever ROM you want.

While technically correct on the specs, Its not a huge difference at least to me. I have the One and OneXL and between the 2 of them performance is not a noticeable difference. The reason I upgraded was the front facing speakers as I use it as a GPS quite frequently and with the rear facing speaker I had a hard time hearing it if the radio was on and I was on the highway.

Really the biggest drawback is for T-Mobile customers like you said. Other than that its a great phone and would highly recommend it.

This is the AT&T version though - I'm not sure if the bootloader is unlockable (One X's bought from AT&T have locked-down bootloaders).

I just bought the unlocked LG Optimus 4x HD for $285 at Amazon (a fairly typical price) and it is amazing bang for the buck.

In a nutshell:

- quad-core Tegra 3 (4 x 1.5GHz - goes to 1.7GHz)
- 4.7 inch screen, 1280x720
- 16GB internal Ram (expandable)
- replaceable battery (cost $10)
- 8MP rear camera

I did quite a bit of research on it before taking the plunge. You do need to be a bit on the geek side to get the most from it (update LG firmware (huge camera improvement), custom ROM, software to significantly increase battery life) but the price/performance ratio is unbeatable IMHO.

It is locked by default, but I was able to register at HTCDev.com and receive an unlock code for both my One and One XL.
