For the 980 Ti? I can't see that happening anytime soon. You'll probably be waiting until the 1080 Ti releases and there are price drops on the 1070/1080... so like 7-8 months from now.
 
I have a Zotac All 980 TI extreme, if I get one of these with similar clock speed does it make sense to SLI them or just get another Zotac which is also on sale for 414?
 
The $389 Price is After the Rebate and not before, this for the Classified Ref. Not a bad deal anyway, but there has been a lot of reports on Evga 980tis with bad case of Coil whine that's not to say that other brands do not share this problem too, just saying if you read reviews on Newegg/Amazon there are lots of reports. Then again Evga has the best Warranty/Customer support in the business and I'm 100% confident that if you were to get any defects on your card Evga would replace it Asap no questions asked but why risk it, go for a MSI, Asus or Gigabyte who are proven to show less issues. Just my 2 cents, either way its your cash and its the best time to get a Good 980ti which can Beat the Best 1070 in the market and hag with the 1080 in a few tests. Check my post on the Gigabyte 980ti Extreme Gaming, there are a few Benchmark Videos of 980tis crushing 1070s. :D

That first one without the KR in the model CAN'T have an extended warranty purchased if you are looking to do that. Only KR models are able to have extended warranties. $20 for 2 extra years (5 Year total) and $40 for 7 extra years (10 year total). To me the extended warranty is chump change and it's best to protect your investment also will help in resale later down the road with potential future buyers having the piece of mind of still having a warranty.

MUST BE PURCHASED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF BUYING THE CARD. Also pricing above was for under $400 add $10 each warranty for under $500

Memory usually doesn't come overclocked from AIB manufacturers. Anyway, you could always just flash the 4998 BIOS onto the 3997. I'm pretty sure that both cards are electrically the same.

There's a reason those aren't clocked to the same level as the 4998, though. Fortunately, it's got the dual BIOS with switch, so if it does fail spectacularly with the 4998 BIOS, you can always switch it back to stock.
 
I'm waiting for 970's to clear out at $199....or I may just snag a 1060 at $249.

I think if you are going to spend $389 to $399 on a card aren't you better off spending + $50 for +2G ram and faster speeds & lower power usage on a 1070?

imo yes, which is probably reason why they're still up for sale on EVGA site. How is this a hot deal? *shrugs*

But it's good to see they're dropping down prices...

Paying less for better performance averaged OC to OC for a 980 Ti vs a 1070, if you can find one, is pretty damn hawt. And yes, there ARE games that are faster on the 1070, just as there are more that are faster on the 980Ti - it must have something to do with the cuda core count that pure MHz can't quite make up for.

Of course if you didn't already have an OCed 980 Ti, or look up the very few reviews that compare OC to OC, you wouldn't have realised this fact.

However, better VR and lower power draw goes to the 1070 - both of which isn't a concern for me or many others.
 

Skip to 2:40 for specs and clocks, after for benchmarks and overall speed difference.

Driver maturity might well swing the 1070 ahead.

Regardless, you can get an EVGA card and step up to a 1070 or 1080 instead of just hunting constantly while stock levels are non-existant. You can't do that with other company's cards.
 
I got a used 980 Ti for $400 to pair with my existing one I got open box for well under $600. Thats plenty for me to wait until the HBM/ 1080 Ti/ whatever really changes things for 4k next..
