Warm: E2200 OEM $45.99+S&H @ Microcenter (Online)

What improvement from the Pent D 805 would I see?

What is the cheapest 45nm Intel proc there is?

big difference between a pent D.

cheapest intel at 45nm is the celeron 12 or 1400 i can't remember the part number

cheapest core2 45 is probably the 5200

Massive Difference going from the PD805 to any C2D chip

Aside from the fact the 805 runs at a 133MHz Front Side Bus (quad-data-rate = 533MHz in "Intelspeak")
and the E2200 runs stock at 200MHz FSB (= 50% faster system bus, Stock), these E2XXX
chips are Excellent overclockers. I am presently sitting on one of our office machines
I have put its E2180 (multi of 10 x 200FSB = 2.0GHz) through its paces, so it now
runs at the 333MHz FSB (Intel says x4 = 1333FSB) f'n sc00ts at a cool 3.33GHz.

If you Google overclocking reviews on the E2160 and/or E2180, you'll see that
various enthusiast sites (like [H]ere, natch! ;)) shows these chips basically are
the same performance as the E6850 but with less L2 cache and set at 200FSB

I haven't met an E2XXX processor yet *knocks wood* that I couldn't get stable at 3.33GHz :D

If your motherboard will support the Core 2 Duo processors, it is Well Worth It,
even if your board doesn't let you overclock, the Core architecture alone is worth it bro

I'm rockin a m0nster Q6600 OC, and I still might pick up one of these babies for my 3yo son

pretty good deal imo, over 20% off going price
i really cant "feel" much difference between my e2200 @ 3ghz and 9600gt compared to my phenom ii 920 and 4850 at stock speeds

Thanks OP - in for one.
I have so many spare parts around to build a 3rd system, and this G5 1.8ghz single / 1256 ddr400 where I work is ridiculously long in the tooth. Needed a cheap dual and I've been trying to snag a used E2/E5/E7 series for weeks now but have had no luck.
