The game looks good at 4k with DLSS.
The mechanics of the game feel clunky, the whole parry/block system is trash, they should just go with the normal long press RMB for block to not totally throw off the feel of combat. Your damage needs to stagger npc like their damage staggers you as you can shoot a mob in the face only to have it do a special attack on you a second later, this is dumb.

Not impressed with the feel so far, it feels like I'm a guy in a heavy suit of armor, not a super soldier in armor that murders everything in his path.

The armor images look like it's a caricature of normal super soldier armor..

It’s not bad, reminds me of older games like halo and such. Single player is ok. Multiplayer has some real balance issues…feels really clunky…one of the classes with the hammer is stupidly OP. I don’t know if it’s worth the money I paid for the game but it’s ok…

Seems my RX 6700 10GB on AM4 / 5700x is having issues getting the game to run smoothy unlike the AM5 / 7700x / RTX 3070 system which runs smoothy, AMD needs a better driver for sure.

Definitely not a $60 game. I regret buying it. This is one of those "wait for a deep deep discount" titles unless you've got friends to play co-op with and are interested in that.

PC was obviously a complete afterthought to the developers. Mouse and keyboard controls are incredibly clunky. No FoV slider. Busted ultrawide implementation. No frame gen. No HDR. Absolutely ABYSMAL load times.

Playing the game solo was also a complete afterthought. They claim that Veteran is the "intended experience"... intended for masochists maybe. To say that your AI squad mates are useless would be an understatement. I lowered the difficulty to normal after barely scraping by the mission where you have to defend the antennas, and my enjoyment level increased by multiple orders of magnitude.

And don't get me started on all of the damn elevator rides that were obviously only put there to pad out the play time of the relatively short campaign.

I finally got done with the Virus Bomb stage where you die, did that on the Intel Arc A770 after spending alot of time finding some settings it likes to keep me in 40 -70fps range at 1440p High, It doesn't like FSR all that well and the game has no XeSS to be what fits todays standard of a modern day game that needs upscaling by who ever made your hardware to see if they can get the POS game to run better.

Even looking at the FSR from a different brand of video card shows something is way off with textures fading black in some areas of the game or shimming on water and grass.

So I just finished the campaign main story. This is the first game since star craft 2 to give me dark sci-fi vibes. The story I thought was good, and while some would say "it's just okay". Yeah, probably you're right. But here's the thing. It's been a while since I even wanted to finish a story in a game. Witcher 3, cyberpunk, baldurs gate 3...That's about all I got. So while yeah, this is kind of a $30.00 game IMO, I can say this. I finished it, I enjoyed it, and I am left wondering about the story and characters. That's more than I can say for 99.9% of games now a days. Also, it didn't overstay it's welcome pacing and length wise, which I appreciate. This one is an easy recommendation at any price. I can see this one on sale in the future and I would whole heartedly recommend.

Debating on downloading and re-playing Space Marine 1 and Dawn of War 2 which I think was the era of peak WH40K gaming on PC back in 2011. However seeing the dated graphics may kill my nostalgia vibes, lol.

I last played SM1 in 2018 and enjoyed the hell out of it again. I might even replay it again after trying to complete my backlog.
Graphics be damned heretic!

I reloaded SM1 and already have graphical issues where the game goes dark except the HUD so I exit out of it and reload the level to fix but it happens several times already... Ah, the joys of playing older games... so I uninstalled, lol.

I gave it a shot and 15 minutes in, I needed to stop. I simply didn't like it. Was way disappointed.

Fix the controls especially if you are on mouse and keyboard - what I did was put melee on mouse 4 and change zoom/weapon to right mouse click from middle mouse click. After that the game was actually playable. But yes the game is a complete turd but sold really well so we might get turd number 3. lol.

Finally finished the solo story missions, and completed my first operation mission with a friend this morning. Ultrawide support works fine on my Dell 38" UW.

The story was refreshingly solid; the continuation of Titus' story was enjoyable, and there was even a bit of side character development.

The story missions were just about the right pacing and length for me. The game looks great and I spent time simply appreciating the art and atmosphere. It does a nice job of capturing the scale of 40K worlds and tyrranid swarms. The operation mission I just did was also just about the right duration.

Controls are a bit clunky and it's taking some time to get good at parrying and dodging. I've focused on melee and the differences between how the weapons play are noticeable and fun. That is, the chainsword, power sword, thunder hammer, and power fist all feel different in combat.

Crashes drive me absolutely nuts and I will not waste my time with unstable games. This game crashed once between missions, so I didn't lose any time. That's totally tolerable to me. I do have a 7700X, 4090, 64GB RAM, SN850X system though; not sure if it might struggle on more modest systems.

I don't regret spending $60 on it given I tend to like 40K games and have friends to play with who also like it. Definitely understand why others have said it's not worth $60, though. If you're on the fence, maybe wait to see if it gets discounted for the holidays. At $40 or below it's an easy recommend for me.

Does it actually look better or are they just simply "uncompressed to impress the normies"?

I'm still not happy that they can't even get ultrawide right with scaling...

Check this Reddit. Seems like the textures are improved, although not very much. On some props things may look higher resolution. Though it seemingly runs fine on 12GB video cards. So if you have the space/bandwidth maybe give it a try but generally not a big difference.

I'll have to give the 4K textures a try on my gaming desktop once I get around to the game. My current play queue is a mile deep.

I have not seen any type crashing with my 7700x and A770, just need XeSS added as FSR needs some major work IMO, been running in TAA balance with the Intel card and the game just seem half made without all the upscales being there to pick from.
