Hey, iv just dug out my wall and installed my LAN sockets so that i go thru it instead of around to reach my switch and was wondering how the bit in the wall should be wired..

Here's the simple layout im using..

PC ------A------ | -------Wall-------- | -------B------- Switch

A and B cables are obviously your standard cat5 patch plugging into the wall sockets, but the bit in the wall.. should it be wired the same as a standard cat5 or as a cross over?

Cheers for your help.

standard straight through, always through walls (unless some super extraordinary circumstance). you can easily use a crossover cable for a patch cable if you were to need it but if the run through the wall is wired to be crossover, then it just makes things more annoying

but to be clear, wire it normally
