Hey,

I can't seem to play WMV or ASF files on my ubuntu linux install.

I tried sudo apt-get install w32codecs and I get...

Code:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package w32codecs

*confused*.

You need unofficial sources in your /etc/apt/sources.list. To find this particular source search for "mplayer debian sources" in google. I don't know the url off-hand, but its ftp.nerim.something.....

Sorry, I found all that info but I still have no facking idea what it means! I'm a total n00b, so if somebody could give me step by step instructions I'd greatly appreciate it...

Great! Thanks. I feel real dumb, but learning by the minute =)
