Vsphere says RAID degraded but.....

Vsphere console says RAID 5 array is degraded, however the Dell PE 2950 III hardware LED diagnostics says nothing of the sort. This worries me but what can I do?

What does the RAID BIOS say? If the BIOS says it's fine I'd open a support/bug ticket at VMware.

Now that is one thing I didn't try yet. .....I'll have to wait until this evening to power down the server and then I'll take a look. Appreciate the idea; don't know why I didn't think to do that.

Check the BBC unit as well while you're in there. Plus the PERC firmware - there are a set of issues with it fixed in the latest.

Just to update this incase anyone else out there has a Dell server that has no errors on the front LCD, and the drive LEDs were all green but an error is being reported in VMware;

It was a bad drive after all. All the LEDs on the drives were green, the LCD said nothing but VMware picke up something was wrong.. I booted into the RAID config utility and sure enough the array was degraded.

Dell sent me a new drive and all is well.
