VPN + Chrome bookmark + Pie generates the Connection Interrupted Error

Android Chrome has a bug that shows up

1. When you use your phone to launch a website from a Chrome Bookmark

2. And have a VPN enabled

3. And your phone is running on Android 9

When you click your bookmark you will get a 'Connection Interrupted' error and encounter an immediate delay in connecting to the URL. After a few seconds has passed the connection will be made. The bug emerged when Android 9 Pie got released, it did not happen with Android 8 .

This only happens when loading a website from a Bookmark in Chrome. If you use the Address Bar to launch the same site, either typing the URL or letting autocomplete do it, the website loads directly.


I took this screenshot when it happened to me using NordVPN and also when using AdGuard VPN. Firefox doesn't have this problem only Chrome.
