VLC constantly crashing/video freeze

Hi All,

I've been using VLC as my primary media player for quite some time on various systems, including the gaming machine in the sig below.

However, I have recently started experiencing constant crashes. I can't get through a single video without the player crashing multiple times.

Sometimes it will just out and and out crash, other times the video will freeze and the audio will continue but eventually it will crash. Another scenario is that a mouse click (left or right) on the video window will cause it to crash.

Has anyone experienced anything similar/know of a fix?

Any help would be much appreciated.
