Vista x64 Sidebar icons missing!

Just recently my icons in Applauncher, the bar in my memory meter, and the pictures in the weather gadget are gone! I tried to reinstall the gadgets, but that made no difference at all. I outlined the problem areas in red. Any ideas?

Usually when I have issues with sidebar gadgets, it is because they can't access the internet. Or maybe the icons are cached and the cache is corrupted. I would run a disk cleanup, a chkdsk, and make sure there are no security programs blocking their access.
 
no dice... i ran disk cleanup and ccleaner. I have no idea where the sidebar cache is, and googling didn't yield any help where it is located either
 
I don't suppose by chance you are running Kaspersky 2009? I see some discussion on their forums about trouble with 64 bit IE and the sidebar...
 
I'm not sure myself but you might want to try clearing IE cache just in case.. maybe they're kept in temporary internet files folder.
