Vista Media Center will not stop changing channels

I have Vista Home Premium (w/SP1) and when using Media Center it will start to change the channels all by its self and will only occasionally stop or slow down. I am using the Microsoft MCE remote and I was thinking maybe the IR receiver is broken and needs to be replaced. I have no clue though.

I have tried searching Google for answers but I wasn't able to find anything. Anyone have any ideas?

is the red light on the receiver on when the channels keep changing?

my first guess is there is something wacky with the remote or the ir receiver..

i'd unplug the ir receiver and see if it still does it..

another idea is the keyboard you ahve hookedup might be interfering with it..

just some ideas.

The red light does come on when it is changing channels. I have taken the batteries out of the remote when it starts changing channels and that doesn't fix it.

There is a keyboard hooked up but there is nothing resting on it to cause the channels to change.
