Question guys.. now I know some others have said that you can use 32bit vista key installing 64bit vista and it works..

now with home basic 32bit, do you guys think i can use the cd key from my laptop to vista 64bit?

You should be able to, assuming you have the media. However, for EULA's sake, some will tell you that you are breaking the EULA if it is an OEM license. Second, if you aren't using it on the laptop, then you'd also be breaking the EULA.

Thanks, the reason I ask is because I tried to install xp only to realize that these laptops do not have XP drivers.. The recovery partition part of the drive doesn't work now for the laptop so I want to reinstall with vista.

you wont be able to activate it likely, and then you need to call them and explain why you need ti activated, and you can only have it on one system at a time either way.

this is annoying, don't know why F11 won't work since I formatted the C drive to XP..
