Vimeo has added support for 360-degree videos on their service. Vimeo is a company much like Youtube where users can go and watch online videos. The 360-degree videos have their own specific category on the website and can be monetized as Vimeo caters to professional filmmakers. Vimeo says that they aren't late to the game as they have been developing a suite of tools and services to assist filmmakers from an end-to-end workflow. There is an entire video school with course work on how to pick a 360-degree camera, shoot great video, editing, etc. Vimeo touts that their service pays content creators 90% of the revenue after transaction costs. The Vimeo mobile app on devices compatible with Zeiss VR One, Samsung Gear VR, and Google Daydream can playback the videos with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive support coming in the future.

“Vimeo’s creator community is known for pioneering new video formats and pushing the boundaries of storytelling,” said Anjali Sud, the company’s senior vice president and general manager of its creator platform. “With this launch, we hope to usher in a new wave of immersive content that sets the standard for cinematic quality and powerful narratives in a 360 environment.”
