60gb Ocz Agility series at it's already lowest price of $185 shipped free. Throw in a $30 MIR and 5% cashback to knock another $39.25 off the price and it brings you down to about $145.75 AR + CB + FS

It's good, but not as good as the Intel. It's basically a cheaper version of the OCZ vertex. Check out Anandtech's SSD reviews... there are a bunch of them, but the SSD coverage there is thorough.

The Agility is a good drive. Not quite the performance of the Vertex or Intel drives, but cheaper.

e: for comparison sake, the same drive is 184 at ZZF and 199 at Newegg.

For $145 AR & CB its a good deal if cost is your priority. You could get 3 of these for the price of 2 80 G2's if you have friends to help you out with the rebate. I'd personally still favor the Intel's though. Tax might kill the dead if CC still charges tax considering they closed their stores.

Warm, I guess. Got mine for $120 AR a month ago.

For comparison, this thing absolutely fucking blew away my old VRaptor. POST takes longer than boot with it.

If I had to choose between this and the Intel, I would choose the Intel.
If I had to choose between this and a spinner, I would choose the OCz (which I own).

If you look at the synthetic benchmarks, the Intel kills it. If you look at the actual real world performance (such as how long it takes to boot, and load programs and such), it is only a few seconds off. At $150, it is a pretty good and effective upgrade if you are still running a traditional hard drive.

Yeah, also, it is totally legit to go with an OCZ, because of cost savings, like in your secondary laptop.

The agility is a hair slower than the vertex which means is still absolutely destroys any mechanical hard drive.

This isn't necessarily true, although that is the differentiation that OCZ originally intended. The thing is, they use whatever NAND Flash is available for the Agility, where the Vertex sticks with a certain brand. So, recently some Agility's went into the channel that had faster Flash than the Agility...

Fixed? I heard something about this... any idea if we can reasonably expect this to be true of current stock?

Yes, you fixed my post. Some agility's have faster flash than the vertexs. This is confirmed from OCZ, and no, there is absolutely no way to tell, except by voiding the warranty by opening up the drive. :( So, make your purchase based on price and availability. And if you get a fast agility, be happy. :) I have a 60gb agility, and I am pretty happy. (Although, I have purchased an Intel X-25 for my main box, and I am moving the Agility to my laptop.)
