You can bet on damn near anything in Las Vegas so it is no surprise that discussions are taking place concerning betting on eSports. My gut tells me that, if it ever does come to pass, it wont be for a long time.

In a recent Gaming Policy Committee meeting, representatives from Nevada’s casino industry discussed the potential of expanding into the world of eSports. The state does not have laws against gambling with eSports, so it could happen. Craig Levine, CEO of the ESL, was present at the meeting, and discussed with the committee their concerns on match-fixing and doping.

Well, it sure would be easier to convince a nerd to throw the match than in other sports...

"The night of the fight, you may feel a slight sting. That's pride fucking with you. Fuck pride. Pride only hurts, it never helps."

They need to start taking bets on the elections - who knows how much that would bring in.

Hmm, with many (most?) " e-Athletes not even being 18 yet, it works out be like betting on minor league sports.

Seems wrong to me to be betting on young kids.

You better believe this is going to happen. When any significant amount of money starts to flow around an idea, there will always be others to latch on wherever they can to ride the train. And with gambling, that's as old as humanity almost... if it's possible to place a bet on something, at least two people are out there doing it. Dota 2 alone was over 20 million last year if I recall, and the money that surrounded it was quite high as well (food, drinks, lodging, merchandise, etc). So yeah, there will be betting.

and queue the scandal of throwing matches/rounds in 3......2........

There have already been a number of scandals over players throwing matches, the big ones from LoL and CS:Go come to mind first but it is certainly nothing new.
