Sure. Press T in the About box... ;)

And if you click on the icon in the same About window, you'll get the THX sound (it's called Deep Note). But that was there for a long time. :)

Questions from an Azuereus user

How is this app on memory? I've seen Azureus use as much as 350MB of memory (split between page file and system)

Does this support encryption? Since I've enabled both plain and RC4 encryption in Azureus, my speeds have increased dramatically (mostly upload speeds, but hey, that'll get me to 1:1 faster)

How stable is it? I've seen Azureus do some funky things before, but thankfully it's always turned out alright.

I'm thinking about using a different app, as I'm tired of Azureus stealing my hard-earned memory - so should I switch to uTorrent??

I got 4 torrents going right now with download of 150+ and upload of 40. 5mb memory usage...and your not counting the java crap running for azureus. uTorrent is very stable, it has never crashed on me like all the other apps I've tried.

It's not called micro-torrent for nothing. You'll be lucky to see it use more than a couple of MB. The old version has been rock stable for me, but I'm not a super-heavy user. I believe it does end-to-end encryption also, as the develop is quite vocal for it.

"Feature: Setting to determine the number of µTorrent users."
Sounds like it's going to be phoning home though, which isn't hot imo.

Very, very light on resources. It isn't called microtorrent for nothing. ;)

Sure. The Encryption scheme was jointly-developed with Azureus developers, so they're compatible with each other. In addition, BitVomit decided to use this superior Encryption scheme as well (FWIW). So all 3 of the biggest clients can share encrypted data with each other.

Don't worry, µTorrent is very stable, you'll love it, trust me. :)

IanG: no, that's just for statistical purposes for Ludde (like how many times it was downloaded and with which version it was downloaded with). You can turn it off in "Other" (within Preferences) if you're not comfortable with it anyway. ;)

Hopefully the check for update function works in this release. 1.4 constantly told me I had the latest version... even after I read this thread...lol.

TheGamerZ: the update has been temporarily turned off until Ludde can fix what's wrong with it. If everything goes according to plan, it should be back up tomorrow. And the update doesn't check for Beta releases, which could explain why yours didn't work. ;)

Switched back to Azuereus today after using Utorrent for about a month and my download speeds doubled with files that had the same amount of seeds and everything. Don't know if it's that much better then Utorrent but for my setup it's faster. Both of them share the same type of encryption to aviod packetshaping. Utorrent is very lightweight and stable.

32 seeds, 1 download - 4.9 MB of RAM

Its never gone above 8 MB, even with 100+ seeds. Best torrent program ever.

Small update guys. ;) Build 437 has been released, but still retains the 1.5 name.

I used to use Azureus... like what in the fuck Azureus, taking up more ram than needed (I know it uses Java).

uTorrent will eventually take over Azureus unless they can tweak it out for RAM and CPU usage (or CONSUMPTION).

Ever since I switched to uTorrent, I can now actually seed 40-50 torrents at a time without having like 200+ fucking megs of ram being taken up

uTorrent is da shit!

It is a nice proggie - much faster than Azureus. I do wish there a few small options built into it (like show Mbps instead of MBps).

I can now play video games with this in the background. Nice!

Wow what an awesome program. I am downloading 3 large files at the moment, with good speeds, and it's using 3mb of RAM and rarely uses more than 2% cpu time. You don't even have to install it - just run the file.
