Just curous how many FPS everyone is getting.

I am running a P4 2.8, a gig of corsair xms ddr, and a sapphire 9800pro.

With everything maxed out graphically/textures, on 1072x768 32bit, anti alissing on 4x and the other thing on 16x, im getting around 80-90 SOLID. Much much higher with the AA off.

Cant wait for this one. Its a beauty....

with all graphics maxed out in the game options, and everything maxed to best image quality in ATI control panel, i get about 85 fps solid in a 24 people server in Onslaught on my 9800xt

I'm only about 35-40 w/ rig in sig. unless I look at a wall or something to get 80fps. Pretty sure I'm at 1024x768. WTF??? I aquamark around 33500, which seems right for my setup. Hmmm...

I run at 1280X1024 with 16XAF and no FSAA and I get about 30-40 on average. Sometimes in a really big firefight it will get to 25FPS, but never lower than that.

Oh yeah, and I only play onslaught so thats probably why my FPS are a bit low.

Funny how people are worried when their FPS gets below 50. Like Kyle et al always say, and I tend to agree, 30 FPS is fine.

I read somewhere, although I don't know how much validity it has, that the human eye can only process 30fps anyhow. Again, don't know how valid that is, but still...

You're right about the human eye thing, its true. I'm not worried, as 30fps if fine for me. I just don't understand how people get max everything, 1280x1024, 4xAA, 16xAF and get 85fps. Maybe I'm just jealous, or I'm doing something wrong.

It may have soemthign to do with the system in your sig :p

Thats sounds about right a with a P4 @ 2.2 and a 9700Pro want more fps. UPGRADE!! LOL

I read an article a while back that explained the reason how games differ from movies in terms of fps. The article at the link below is not nearly as good as the one I remember, but it does make this point. For motion films, I believe 30 is about right because films rely on blurring effects to seam the movie together. Games on computers don't rely on blur to create a seamless motion.

"Just think of modern games: Have you ever played Quake with 18fps? There is no motion blur in those games, thus you need a lot of frames per second more."

www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm

I think a lot of games run well at 30 fps. However, better fps in even a game like CS makes a world of difference. This is mainly because of the crosshairs contracting smoother and sooner with 100fps than 30fps. You get better burst fire accuracy sooner. A friend of mine came over and played CS at my house. He has a pretty high end rig and never could relate to my bitching about fps in CS. He played aztec and got 25-30 frames looking down at the water with people running all over the screen, he could not hack it and did not want to play anymore. : ) He asked me how I can play like that and I told him that is why I don't rush the doors.

I run it at 12x10, 2X/8X, and I hardly ever drop out of the 60s with the system in sig. But I have turned off coronas, and physics detail is set as low as possible.

??? The fps may be right for my rig, but please tell me you're kidding about the upgrade, sheesh...

i get fantastic FPS in everything but assault. and onslaught seems to slow me down every so often.

assault i'm lucky to get 40fps. don't understand it at all.

i run 1156x864 2xAA/8xAF with the system below, drops below a few times but nothign that hinders my fragging ability

I don't get the performance some are claming. I jack up everything and even with no FSAA and AF... I get into the 40's and in large onslaught servers it even drops into the 20's?

What gives?

You should be getting more than that. We have almost idential computers. Hmm...You were in a server that you pinged good to right? Like sub 50?

I got 85fps with everything maxed out. I took some screenshots with the 'stat fps' command running, but it doesnt seem to show up on the actual screenshot....hmm........

i was playing CTF at the time, if that makes a difference. I will try onslaught and report back----

update - onslaught averages in the 50's with everything maxed and AA/AF maxed. Dips down in the 40s now and then. Theres alot going on on that map! Still very well playable, and just by turning anti alising down or off you can get a ton more FPS.

CTF/Deathmatch still in the 80's...
havent tried assault.

this is at 1280x960x32. btw i gained about 10-13 fps by switching to 1280x960 from 1280x1024.

NO AA, NO AF, VSYNC OFF

My game runs like crap for some reason, getting 20fps in combat alot on the assault map.

AA and AF are off at 1024x768. This is unacceptable performance for my system.

I have your problem too... shouldn't be like this...

i wish i could get 90 frames....but i can still whip anyone's butt with my shitty 30-60 frames

First my system specs
Dual 2Ghz
9600 Pro
23" Apple Cinema display (1900x1200)

Now, with every thing set at the fullest, including the resoultion, I get anywhere from 20 - 40 FPS. ( ONS mode )

I know, I know, I if i want a better frame rate take down the res and take down some settings, but it looks soooo good.
I need a better gfx card :(

hey guys whats the command that I type in to get it to show the fps in ut2k4?

There is something weird about the Unreal Engine. It doesn't have high requirements so it will run on a slower system just fine unline Battlefield which requires tons of memory bandwidth (DDR SDRAM is a must) but when you turn on AA, on a fast system, Battlefield runs mostly just fine and Unreal runs pretty crappy. I have to turn off AA for UT2004, 2003 and Raven Shield.
