Use different versions of Forge Minecraft??

My son wants to use a mod that is for Minecraft version 1.7. But I have Forge installed for version 1.8. I can go into the profile and select different version of Minecraft, but there is only one Forge version available.

I tried running the 1.7 Forge installer and it made the game stop functioning. I had to restore my /roaming/.minecraft folder to get the game working again.

How can I run older versions of Minecraft with mods?

Look up MultiMC or FeedTheBeast, these will let you load up whichever version you want and make it easy to manage mods and such.
