Upgrading monitor (Gaming.) Torn between 4k TV and high end 100+ HZ.

If i wanted to game (PC) at 1080p i wouldn't need such a huge display.

In fact, I could get an awesome sub-30" monitor with high refresh rate, gsynch and all that jazz - and the things on this small screen but at 1080p would be acceptable size.
I'm getting a huge TV just so that things don't look tiny when I run in solely at 4k.
Is that a failed logic? I'm not trolling here, just trying to understand if i'm thinking the right way.

(PS4 is a whole other matter. I got a 75 sony TV for that in the living room and a 65" LG OLED in the bedroom).

It's not a failed logic at all I think you just keep ignoring the versatility factor.

You can but a 30 inch or lower monitor and have all the speed, but no ability to run other genres of games at 4K 60 HZ.

The sony, while a compromise, can do both.

Play shooters at 1080 and 120 frames. Play RPGs at 4K 60 frames. You have the ability to switch back and forth. 1080 can still work for gaming and you have the ability to switch based on genre.

It's not an ideal resolution at that size but having the option is nice.

I was just thinking of trying to stretch for an OLED.

Glad to see you went with an OLED after all.
