Does anyone know how much it costs to upgrade from Backup Exec 12.5 for Windows Servers to the latest BE 2010. I have been reading that Backup Exec 12.5 does not support a lot of stuff in Server 2008 R2.

Even though today I did a remote install of the windows agent to one of my Server 2008 machines and I did full backup:confused: I have been reading this would not work. Tonight i was reading over the IDR procedure and read some forum posts that IDR will not work with Server 2008 R2 because it does not create the .IDR file. I also took a look at the Backup Exec 12.5 SCL http://www.symantec.com/business/su...LUTION/62000/TECH62301/en_US/bews_125_scl.pdf and it does not show Server 2008 R2.

Is anyone familiar with these compatibility problems?

AMD have you got a new job by any chance?

I am doing a part time job this summer for internship credit at this non-profit with about 40 clients in the office. I am migrating all their servers from physical Windows Server 2003 machines that are 5-10 years old to Windows Server 2008 running on ESXi. This is a great learning experience.

Here is more info about the hardware http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1612210

When the migration is complete they will be. We dont migrate stuff during working hours. Why do you ask?

It just sounds risky to me. It's normally best to have a technical lead or work in a lab. Maybe thats just me. Sounds like your doing well though, don't get me wrong.

We are taking things one step at a time and then making sure it works before moving on.
