Setting up a new build and was wondering what size monitor I need to appreciate the 670gtx?

Have been using a hd 6870 in my old system with dell 20" monitor(1680 x 1050).

Would like to stay under $400 for monitor.

my build:

m/b: asus z77-v pro
ram: g.skill16gb
cpu: i5 3570k
gpu: 670gtx (gigabyte windforce oc, evga ftw or asus) will purchase one this weekend.
psu: kingwin lzp-850
ssd: 256 crucial m4
hd: wd black 1TB

Will be used for gaming, digital imaging (photoshop/lightroom) and ms office 2010.

Thanks for any info.........

For around $400, one of the best (and biggest) you could get is one of the 27" displays a lot of us picked up.

Though a single 670 might struggle with some games at that resolution (2560x1440) depending on settings.

If you want to stick to name brand and a dealer in the USA, ASUS and Samsung make some nice displays in the 24" range, but not sure of current prices.

I checked out the link from Limahl and I think I'm sold on the monitor. I noticed on the ebay page there are a few different models for the 27" monitor. One I found was $309 from green-sum, a YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE. Is this the correct model?

Will my 670 gtx have a hard time with the resolution (2560x1440) or should I set the resolution lower?

I recomend those monitors too, just be aware there is a small risk.

I have 670ftw and catleap q270le

This is true, but still playable. Crysis 2 with ultra/dx11 averages about 35fps. Still playable though.

Check out what Limahl linked to. I got mine last week and it is running great with my 670.

You should be fine in most game. Greem-sum is good. Thats where I got mine.

I have an ASUS GTX 670 arriving Tuesday and the new ASUS PA248Q arriving Monday from Newegg to pair it with (24" IPS 1920x1200). Call me a traditionalist, but I don't want a Korean 2560x1440 monitor with power bricks, plug adapters and no US warranty. I'd also prefer a 16:10 aspect monitor for PC gaming vs. 16:9. It has a kick-ass stand that adjusts just about any way I would want it to as well.

Price ?
on that monitor ?

~$350. Its an IPS and 1920x1200.

Admittedly the korean monitors are a big risk, but being able to land a $300 monitor that has the same display as the $1k dell/apple displays has its appeal.

The good thing about the power bricks being external is that those are usually the first to go and can be replaced easily.

The good thing is that if you ever have problems the ASUS is A LOT safer.
