Hey I haven't been keeping track of hardware as closely as I used to. My current system does pretty well for me in most of the games I play, but I am looking for a relatively inexpensive Dx11 card to replace my GTX260. My monitor runs at 1680x1050 resolution. Are there any cards around $150 that will be a respectable upgrade? Thanks!

Your still pretty good.

But if you want to upgrade do a 5850 and try to unlock it to a 5870, wait for the right card and promotion.

At this point look at upgrading your rig, IMHO

I've always been an nvidia guy, had a few ATI issues over the years, but I'm not apposed to ATI. The one you linked looks pretty good, thanks!

With NVidia, get a 460, they're priced around $150, and it'll be a decent upgrade, and SLI 460s down the road won't look bad either!

You should try posting in the marketplace forum for a used 470 GTX. Going from a 260 GTX to a 5850 is not worth it imo. Ive seen some go for 160$. I bet you could get one for close to 150 if you waited.

that cpu is going to limit any really high end card especially at 1680x1050. in most cpu intensive games you will see little to no increase over that gtx260. honestly you are not missing out on anything worthwhile by sticking with your current DX10 card.

If you like the nVidia flavor, go for the older 460 cards, unlock it to a 470 if your able. A 460/470 would be much faster then your 260, and if you want to go current gen. just go to the 550Ti series from nVidia, or go with the 6850 from AMD.

you mean 465 and chances of it unlocking to a 470 are slim. and even if it does unlock, there's an increased risk of it failing. not to mention the 465/470 are loud, hot, and power hungry.

a 550 ti is pretty overpriced and is not really any better than his gtx260. in fact the 550 ti would be slower running DX11 than his 260 is running DX10 in most cases.

again with his older dual core cpu and res, he should probably just stick with the gtx260 unless he gets a really good deal on something like a 6850.

since when do the 5850 unlock to 5870? even if you are talking about 6850 that still doesnt unlock to a 6870.
