A friend of mine recently had a 6800GT die on him and was wondering what the best bang/buck would be while keeping an AGP format. I haven't kept up on what cards are the 'gem' of the site in the economy realm, so I thought you guys could give me some input?

Thanks!

The x1950pro from ATI is probably the best bang/buck card available.

There are more powerful options namely the 7950gt, and the x1950xtx (or xt I can't remember) but they are both hard to find, and hella expensive.

You should be able to find a 1950pro on ebay for around 150-175

The 7800gs is another good option, but is probably around the same price as the 1950.

And finally budget(ish) get the 7600gt

Yeppers, gotta say the same. I went from a 6800gt to a 1950Pro...

one thing.. make sure you have a real beefy power supply. Card wants lots of amps on the 12volt line.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I forwarded them along - I think he ended up going with the 7600gt temporarily until he does a full system overhaul. Much appreciated!
