UP3214Q - it has arrived!

so I read the article and also read this PDF from ST.com

http://www.st.com/st-web-ui/static/active/en/resource/technical/document/data_brief/DM00031849.pdf

is this a chip that will be embedded on the next generation video card? Or does it goes on the motherboard? And it says Q1 to A2 of 2014, that's pretty much right now

I don't recall any1 else has any buzz about this except you

Anyhoo, what about the Samsung 4K 31.5" that uses HDMI 2.0, which should solve the MST issue but we would know when it comes out, say it does bypass the MST issue via HDMI 2.0, would you go buy that?

Likely not. Dell rep told me 3 months if I wanted to exchange the monitor I had for a new one with the updated firmware, so probably end of June - early July.

according to Chris M latest post, all the fixes will be done by late April.

It's purely a monitor thing on the newer controller. You wouldn't need an updated video card since it is still DP 1.2.

I would consider getting the Samsung monitor, haven't seen anything on a release date though. LG has a 4K monitor coming too - 31MU95.

Eizo just announced some new models as well - posted a thread here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1814817

I have an UP3214Q on test. The only problem I have (780Ti card) is sometimes monitor does not boot up. I've solved it by turning it ON only after the computer fully starts, but I have 2 other monitors connected on DVI.

According to Chris from DELL, all those problems are driver related and will be solved by new Nvidia drivers comming soon.

Otherwise, it is a nice monitor, but I don't really know what to do with it. Native is really a bit too tiny for me (I don't have good vision) and 2560x1440 I had to scale to is much cheaper to get with U2713HM - 25% of the price...

I don't have a lot of faith w/ samsung. I have to exchange 5 x 30" monitors in 2 yr., and in the end, they refund me all the $. The heat of their LCD cracks the top left & right corner of the monitor from the inner corner TOWARDS the outer bezel of the monitor. Good thing their new 32" is metal. But that doesn't mean other problems are solved.

The entire screen is defective that you can't view (like a good portion of the color spectrum is gone). So I don't trust samsung "quality"

2 x news flash:

http://www.brightsideofnews.com/201...-24-and-32-4k-monitors2c-leaves-28-untouched/

Dell is dropping price as of Apr. 1 to a list price of $2622

Now, at the time Dell was at $3400, ProAdvantage or Newegg or Amazon is at $2300

So now that Dell's list price dropped to $2622, then the above stores should be selling at $1759 or so

On top of that, those idiots at Eizo is selling their 31" at a whoppy $8K, so clearly their target customer is bill gates and his children only. As such, the only 1 that would be better than the Dell is the Samsung, depends on the price of the Samsung.

by the way, is it me or that model in the Dell UP3214Q screen looks like nicole kidman?

for those who own this monitor, what's the latest? As from that dell thread, some people said even w/ the A01 firmware update, they still can't get this to work
