After a three-year debacle involving shady behavior, broken promises, and $660,126 that went nowhere, the game company Playdek has decided to call it quits on Unsung Story, passing the rights to a new company that will apparently develop and publish the game.

In an update this afternoon, Playdek told Kickstarter backers that the game company Little Orbit (Barbie & Her Sisters: Puppy Rescue, Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends) will now develop and publish Yasumi Matsuno’s supposed spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Tactics.

Interesting.

But this KS does show why you do not pledge money to a product that does not have a prototype.
 
This was one that upset the shit out of me -- FFT being one of my all time favorites -- and really nothing that has ever come close to being a "successor" to it in an way. It's also one of the reasons I avoid 99% of KS games.

No idea what the new publisher intends to do with this, should be interesting at the very least -- but likely another letdown.
